Our Verification Systems

Seller ID Verification

Verified sellers have confirmed their identity through our secure verification process powered by Stripe Identity. This helps ensure you're dealing with real people.

ID Verified

Horse Video Verification

Sellers can verify they have access to the horse by recording a short video with a unique verification code. This helps prevent stolen photos and fake listings.

Common Scams to Watch For

Too Good to Be True Pricing

Be wary of horses priced significantly below market value. Scammers often use unrealistically low prices to lure victims. Research fair market prices for the breed, training level, and age before committing.

Urgency Pressure

Scammers create artificial urgency (\"must sell today,\" \"other buyer waiting\") to prevent you from doing proper due diligence. Legitimate sellers understand buyers need time to evaluate.

Unusual Payment Requests

Be suspicious of requests for wire transfers, cryptocurrency, gift cards, or payment apps without buyer protection. Use secure payment methods that offer recourse if something goes wrong.

Remote-Only Transactions

Sellers who refuse to allow in-person visits or video calls with the horse may be hiding something. Always try to see the horse before committing to a purchase.

Stolen Photos

Some scammers use photos from other listings or social media. Do a reverse image search on listing photos to verify they're original. Look for the Horse Verified badge.

Red Flags to Avoid

  • Seller won't provide additional photos or videos upon request
  • Story changes or details don't add up
  • Seller is "out of town" or unable to meet in person
  • Requested deposit before viewing the horse
  • No vet check allowed or seller discourages one
  • Pressure to complete transaction quickly
  • Communication only via text or email (avoiding calls)
  • Listing appears on multiple sites with different details
  • Seller asks you to overpay and refund the difference

Safe Payment Practices

Use Protected Payment Methods

Consider using payment methods that offer buyer protection, such as credit cards or escrow services designed for large purchases. These provide recourse if the transaction goes wrong.

Get Everything in Writing

Use a written bill of sale that includes the horse's description, registration numbers, health guarantees, and any other terms you've agreed upon. Both parties should sign.

Pre-Purchase Exam

Always have a pre-purchase veterinary examination performed by a vet of your choosing before finalizing any horse purchase. This protects your investment.

Never Wire Money Blindly

Wire transfers are difficult to reverse. Never wire money without meeting the seller and seeing the horse first. If a deposit is required, use a method with buyer protection.

Report Suspicious Activity

If you encounter a suspicious listing or seller, please report it immediately. Your reports help keep our community safe. Use the \"Report this listing\" link on any listing page, or contact our support team.
